Funding Information and Opportunities

Otago Community Trust —

Below are links to a number of funding opportunities that may assist you and / or your organisation, including a reminder that the Trust’s capability funding closes on the 30th of October.

Otago Community Trust Capability Funding 

Following a review of the Trust’s capability development funding and listening to the feedback from the not-for-profit sector, the Trust has now opened its capability funding to more not-for-profit organisations and will offer two funding rounds per year. The next funding round closes on the 30th of October. 

What you need to know:

Capability funding is now available to all sectors except for schools and education providers.

Those in the Arts Sector in Dunedin will still be eligible for the Dunedin Arts Capability Fund. No changes have been made to this fund. 

Those in the Youth Sector will still be eligible for the Tamariki and Rangatahi Sector Capability Fund, this fund will now offer two funding rounds per year with closing dates of 31 May and 30 October. Organisations can receive one capability grant per year

All other eligible organisations, including Arts organisations outside of Dunedin, can apply to the Trust’s new Capability Fund.

  • Organisations can apply for up to $5000.
  • Two funding rounds per year with closing dates of 31 May and 30 October.
  • Organisations can receive one capability grant per year.
  • Organisations can receive a capability grant in addition to any other grant offered by the Trust.

Creative New Zealand Arts Grants 

Short-term funding for artists, arts practitioners, and arts organisations to complete a project within a 12-month period.

You can now apply for funding any time between 4 August and 31 October 2023. Creative New Zealand aim to notify the results within 12 weeks of receiving an application.

Winston Churchill Memorial Trust

Helping people to travel overseas to learn from others and study topics that will advance their occupation, trade, industry, profession or community and benefit New Zealand.

Applications for travel in 2024 open on 5 July 2023 and close on 23 August 2023.

Lottery Community Facilities Fund (Round 1)

Lottery Community Facilities provides grants:

  • to improve or build new community facilities, or
  • for feasibility studies to work out if plans to improve or build community facilities can be achieved and will benefit the community.

The aim is to get more people involved in community and social activities, and to strengthen communities and bring people together by helping to develop their community facilities.

Lottery Community Facilities is for projects where the total project cost is over $50,000.

Requests for funding of projects where the total cost is $50,000 or less should be made to Lottery Community.

Applications opened 19 July 2023 and close on 06 September 2023. The decision date is 15 December 2023.
