Otago Community Trust is thrilled to launch the Rangatahi-Led Fund in Ōtepoti Dunedin and Waitaki Regions
In April 2021, Otago Community Trust launched its Tamariki & Rangatahi Strategy and ringfenced $10 million over 5 years to support initiatives that aligned with the strategy. As part of the strategy, three new funds were announced:
The first two funds were launched in 2022, and the Trust is thrilled to share that the Rangatahi-Led Fund is now live in Ōtepoti Dunedin and Waitaki regions, with South Otago and Central Otago funds coming soon.
The Rangatahi-Led Fund provides funding for projects for rangatahi, led by rangatahi, with virtually everything about the fund determined by rangatahi.
The fund is led by groups of rangatahi from around the region, and it is these rangatahi who have designed everything about the fund, and they are in charge of assessing grant applications and leading funding decisions.
Each group will have a $25,000 pool of funding from which they can recommend grants of up to $5000 to rangatahi-led projects.
Projects will need to be umbrellaed by an eligible organisation that will hold the money on behalf of the rangatahi.
If you know any rangatahi in Ōtepoti or Waitaki who have big ideas for projects that would benefit other rangatahi, we would love for you to share the details of this fund with them.
