Below is a quick summary of our recent grant approvals for September and October 2022.
September Grants Summary:
Funding boost for Wānaka projects and events
Otago Community Trust funded over $500,000 in support of a wide range of community projects in its September funding round, with the Upper Clutha | Wānaka area in particular benefitting from recent grant approvals.
A $180,000 grant was approved to the Snow Farm which will assist with the cost of building a new base lodge. The Snow Farm is in immediate need of a base lodge which will serve all users, summer and winter, for both for recreational and school activities.
Other organisations benefiting from community grants in September included Bike Wanaka Inc who were approved a $20,000 grant to assist with the cost of rejuvenated the Lismore Bike Park. Livingwell Disability Resource Centre were approved a $19,000 grant to continue the valuable work they do providing a disability and health related information service to the Otago region, and a $16,500 grant was approved to Hampden Hall Committee in partnership with the Waitaki District Council to help with the cost of the roof replacement of the Hampden Hall.
In total Otago Community Trust approved $516,432 to 30 organisations in September 2022.

October Grants Summary:
Trust grant supports Hampden sustainable community vision
The vision for a comfortable, attractive, versatile, and sustainable community building and garden in the small Waitaki community of Hampden received a substantial funding boost from the October round of grants from Otago Community Trust.
Hampden Community Energy Society Inc was approved a $100,000 grant to support the new community workshop and garden complex.
Whalan Lodge Trust in Kurow also received funding support for a large capital project that will support the expansion and redevelopment of the Awakino Wing of the Lodge, specifically the portico and courtyard dining and deck area. A grant of $180,000 was been approved for this project.
In total Otago Community Trust approved just over $940,000 to 67 organisations in October 2022, this included Arts Capability funding of $60,000 to seven Dunedin based arts and culture organisations for capability-based initiatives in areas of governance and management. The contestable Arts Capability Fund is jointly run with the Dunedin City Council
