It was delightful to witness the new Community Christmas Tree now standing tall on the village Green outside the Ranfurly Railway Station at the start of the month. The Christmas Tree project stood out as one of the highlights for Ranfurly's125th Birthday celebration.🎉
This initiative was a collaborative effort between the Maniototo Business Breakfast Group and the Maniototo Lions Charitable Trust, both committed to ensuring the tree was in place for the 125th Birthday festivities on December 1, 2023.
"The Christmas Tree project aimed to instill a sense of community pride and boost morale in our small rural town. We hope it serves as a catalyst for other small projects around the town and district.”
The lighting of the 5m high Community Christmas Tree took place on the Friday evening, setting the stage for a fantastic weekend in the Maniototo.
With sunny days, blue skies, and an abundance of good people, Saturday was filled with family fun, a gala night of glamour, and Sunday's events included the unveiling of the heritage community orchard, a walking tour of the town, and a cricket match between Ranfurly and visitors.
Otago Community Trust was pleased to support the Community Christmas Tree Project with a $4,000 grant in May 2023. We are wrapped (excuse the pun) to see it proudly adorning the village Green on what was a special weekend for the Maniototo.
