In early March ONENews Goodsorts visited the Urban Farm at Kaikorai Valley College. The short video produced gives a great sneak peek of the work of a science teacher Dr Simon McMillan who saw potential in some surplus land at the College.
The Urban Farm is focused on applied learning contexts in Science, Technology, and Agriculture. Otago Community Trust has supported the Urban Farm since late October 2018 providing learning impact funding to allow the College to maintain and build the capacity to deliver their Science and Technology Learning Innovation in Agriculture programme.
It is wonderful to hear how extremely rewarding for students, teachers and families this has been and how it has lifted student engagement and success and provided many with clear career pathways.
