Audio-Visual Resources

Distance Learning —

Course material and other information may also be available in a range of multimedia formats (in addition to print).

Your paper coordinator will advise which technologies are being utilised in your course and will provide access instructions. Some departments provide course material and readings on CD or DVD. These can be read directly from your computer screen or printed out.

DVDs and CDs are included in the Library catalogue, and some can be borrowed from the Library. You should check with Library Service staff for further information about which material may be posted out.

Podcasts are audio and/or video files which you can download to your computer and transfer to portable devices if desired. Your lecturer may make these as part of the learning resources for your paper. Access to them is usually via a link that the lecturer will make available through the Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard or Moodle) for your paper. Many papers provide recorded lectures but not all of these are available as podcasts.

Video Streaming is video broadcast over the internet.

Look through the course outline for your paper, and discuss with your lecturer which audio-visual resources you will use. Make sure you know where and how to access the resources and also how you are expected to make use of them for your study.
