Distance Learning —

Good luck to Distance Students who may be completing exams over the coming weeks

The Student Administration, Exams team advises students about examination-related matters and administers Special Consideration, Variation, and Alternative Arrangement applications. The following general information covers most common enquiries from distance students. For detailed information about these and other matters, see the Examinations webpage.

COVID-19 and Semester 1 exams

Because of the COVID-19 situation, you will already know that all exams will be run online this Semester.

IMPORTANT!!

Please read through the latest information about Semester 1 Exams on the University's COVID-19 site.
Check back at that site regularly for updates!

While University rules, policies and regulations about examinations remain the same as they have always been, the way the exams are run will be different this time. For example, instead of sitting your exam at an exam centre, you will now have to do it through Blackboard/Moodle; or perhaps your assessment task has been modified to be a different kind of activity, other than the formal invigilated exam that might have been planned at the start of the semester.

You will already have heard about the form your exams/assessments will take from your lecturers. If you have any queries or doubts about anything related to your assessment/exams, please contact your lecturer as soon as possible.

Advice and guidance for sitting online exams

For some sound advice about preparing for online exams, go to the UNI101 Getting started at Otago site available through Blackboard (all students, whether you use Blackboard for your course or not, have access to this site). In particular, have a look at the sections called COVID-19 EXAMS UPDATE and Exam IT Tips.

And remember to keep a regular eye on the University's COVID-19 site.
