Auckland Study Day 2020 - CANCELLED

Distance Learning —

It is unfortunate that the study day that we usually offer for distance students in July has been cancelled. 😧

Normally held at the Auckland Centre, it is an opportunity for students to come together and meet with a range of specialised staff in person. Due to the knock-on effects of the COVID-19 situation, we are unable to logistically bring together all the elements to create the event this year.

However, we have the recordings of last year's event that might be of interest to you.

The key workshops  were:-

How to get the most out of eResources: Using databases, ebooks and Google Scholar.  Judy Fisher, Subject Librarian at the University Library, made a very informative presentation on this topic. One student said they discovered new facts that they hadn't known previously about how to search for information.  You can watch the presentation here...

Critical Writing and Plagiarism. Carole Acheson (Higher Education Development Centre) has such a vast knowledge in this area, providing informative ideas and examples.  One student said that this session was the best thing about the day for them! You can watch this here...

Overview of other presentations:

While we can't make promises about holding the event next year, we hope there will be an opportunity to hold the session again. Let's see how the coming months pan out!
