Distance students and the Library
The Library has been supporting Distance Students for almost 35 years, as long as the University has been offering distance courses.
We understand the challenges that go with studying off-campus and have developed this guide to Library services for Distance students. You can find a link to this on the Library home page.
Requesting books, chapters and articles
The guide outlines how to request the Library's physical books online (using Library Search Ketu) and have them sent to your your home address. The is no charge for the delivery and return shipping of your University of Otago Library books within New Zealand.
Scan requests: If you don't require the whole book, you can request a scan of a chapter or section. We can also scan and send journal articles you are unable to access online. Please be aware that Libraries must adhere to copyright regularions and licensing
Assistance with information searching and much more:
Subject Librarians are available to support your learning and research. There will be one assisgned to your broad research discipline (e.g. Theology). Their contact details are on the Subject Librarians of tab of the Guide for Distance Learners.

Visiting University of Otago campus libraries
All students who are currently enrolled can use any of the University of Otago libraries on the Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington or Invercargill campuses. All Library locations can be found via the Library website.
