....endorsement for distance teaching!

There has been a great addition to Otago's annual Teaching Awards scheme It is an important positive move for those who teach distance papers and programmes.

From this year, if you put in an application for an Otago Teaching Award, you can nominate yourself to receive an endorsement to that award in distance teaching!

Not only does the addition of this special endorsement say that the University is giving importance to the work that you do, but it also starts the process of making the work that you do more public within the University community. The work of distance educators can easily get unnoticed and unrecognised beyond the confines of your own programme/departmental context. So, this is a great move for the University.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful for distance educators to be highlighted through the Otago Teaching Awards round this time? They have been recognised in the past (see the list of past Otago and National Award winners here), but often the fact that they work in distance education has not been made obvious.
