Samoan Language Week
Talofa Otahuhu Primary Aiga
This week we celebrate Samoan Language Week and it is even more important as Samoa celebrates 60 years of independence. I will be attending the special celebration on behalf of our school at Fale Samoa on Wednesday morning. This is the year of Samoa in the Pacific and we begin this week in Aotearoa with the celebration of ‘Le Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa” Samoa Language week. Gagana Samoa is the third most spoken language in Aotearoa following English and Te Reo Maori. This year the theme of Le Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa - Samoan Language Week is Fa’aauau le Folauga i le Va’a o Tautai, which translates as Continue the voyage with Wayfinders of the Sea.
The TVNZ Breakfast team visited the school this morning to film our beautiful children preparing for Samoan Language week and why this week is so special to our learners. I hope you had a chance to watch them on Breakfast.
Nga mihi nui
