Kia Ora Otahuhu School Whanau,

OPS Staff —

A big welcome to all our new families this term. We will have a powhiri on Friday to formally welcome you to our school at 10.00am.

The appearance of Matariki marks a time to be with whānau and friends, reflect on the year that has been, and remember our loved ones who have passed.

It's also a time to celebrate new beginnings and plan for the year ahead.

The rise of Matariki is a lovely way to begin our new term. I hope you managed to take time to relax and reflect over the break and enjoy the Matariki celebrations. Hubs will be focussing on Matariki activities next week.

There is plenty happening over the term. We start the term with the continuation of our swimming programme with the senior school. We acknowledge the importance of learning to swim and utilize these lessons to build our water confidence.

There are trips planned to the Maritime Museum for the senior school. The New Zealand Maritime Museum is the place where the stories of people and the sea are preserved, shared and explored with our visitors. It is located at Auckland Viaduct.

Planning for our Moana production is well underway and the children are very excited about performing this at the end of the term to their friends, community and whanau. More information regarding practices will be sent in the next couple of weeks.

We are scheduled to meet with whanau for learning conversations on Wednesday 26th July. This is an opportunity to discuss ways to support your children to achieve their goals. Reports were sent home at the end of term 2. They will form the basis of the discussions on this day. Please send your preferred interview times to school as soon as possible so we can try and accommodate the most suitable time for your attendance.
