From the Principal's Desk
Kia ora Otahuhu Primary
It has been a great start to term 2 with some beautiful weather. I feel this is changing with the colder weather starting to settle in and colder mornings.
I have had a wonderful start to this term and have spent lots of time trying to meet our tamariki and whanau. The children are delightful and so respectful. The HEART values of our school are well embedded and I am truly privileged to be the new tumuaki of Otahuhu Primary. Please do not hesitate to come and say hello to me.
Last week I had an opportunity to visit the Hokianga with a group of principals from all over the motu. It is the first time we have been able to meet face to face for a while. The group is part of Tautai o le Moana - Wayfinders of the Ocean which is a professional development programme that focuses on an inquiry into our educational leadership through a Pacific lens. A tautai is a sea captain or navigator that can sail in many different conditions. Someone who can read the signs of the wind, the current, the stars and the ocean. Using this analogy we build and strengthen the Pasifika capabilities of Principals. We used the time to immerse ourselves in the history of Aotearoa and to connect with key events and understandings of the place we call home.
