Te Hononga

Rose Neal —

Te Hononga is our very new classroom block that was finally completed in September 2023.

We were gifted the name- Te Hononga- by the Kaumatua who blessed the building. He chose this name for our building to signify the importance of making connections among our school and community.

There are 18 classroom spaces- 6 on each level, but we have chosen to have fewer classes on each level to keep our year levels together.

On Level 1 we have 4 Year 4 classes, Level 2 has 3 Year 5 classes, and Level 3 has 1 Year 5 &6 composite class, and 3 Year 6 classes.

We were promised a new basketball court in front of Te Hononga, but as many of you will have noticed, the court is not flat, it has a fairly significant slope to it. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated with this, and we are still working with the Ministry of Education to try to get this resolved. Children can still play on the court but we have held off getting the new basketball posts and backboards until we have resolved the level of the court. Watch this space!
