Maths No Problem
Teachers and children are enjoying our structured Maths Programme, Maths No Problem.
Teachers participated in a day of professional development with our Maths No Problem facilitator during the recent Teacher Only Day. We have one more Maths Teacher Only Day scheduled for Term 2.
These days are crucial for all teachers to receive ongoing professional development and support in implementing the Maths No Problem programme.
Maths No Problem is based on the highly successful Singapore Maths programme, and it has been adapted to align with New Zealand contexts. It has several differences compared to the Numeracy Project, which was the programme of the Maths curriculum in the previous New Zealand Curriculum.
One of the main differences with Maths No Problem is that teachers follow the outlined scope and sequence. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging children to think more deeply about maths concepts to help ensure they are fully understood before introducing a new concept or strategy.
I encourage you all to watch the video attached, which explains the importance of deep learning in mathematics. It is 12 minutes long, and teachers watched this on our Teacher Only Day.
