Happy Birthday to us!

Oteha Valley School is 20 years old! Our school opened on 4 February 2004, so this year we celebrate being open for 20 years. A lot has changed over the last 20 years- we have many more children and staff, and lots more families in our community. Our community is very diverse and we see that as a real strength of our school and community. Our school opened with 16 children and at the end of 2023, we had 603 children.

In Term 1, all classes will have a strong focus on Te Matou Wahi-Our Place. Children will learn and find out about our history, what we had here before, what we have here now, and what we may have in the future. 

The photo on the left was taken many years ago when each pod was a different colour. The cladding all had to be removed as it was potentially leaky, and it was replaced with weatherboards. 

The photo on the right shows children playing outside. This was before the Year 3-6 playground was built.
