Structured Literacy Programme
The Year 1-3 teachers who have been doing the BSLA-Better Start Literacy Approach- training are excited about the programme.
After 4 weeks of completing all the required assessments on the children, the teachers have started teaching aspects of the BSLA Structured Literacy Approach.
All Primary Schools are required to be using a Structured Literacy Approach to teaching reading in 2025 and we have started with our Year 1-3 teachers and children.
Next year our Year 4-6 teachers and children will learn about the approach to teaching reading.
Parents of children in the Year 1-3 classes who are using the BSLA programme now are invited to meetings at school to learn about what is different about this approach to teaching reading.
These meetings are on Monday 9th September at 3.15 for Year 0-2 parents, and Thursday 12 September at 3.15 for Year 3 parents.
