Exciting New Innovation
Read this article to find out about our exciting new innovation for 2025.
Next year the school will transition from three to four houses named after past students who have gone on to represent New Zealand in sports.
Williamson House
Charlton House
Burmester House
Jones House
Each of these alumni have given their blessing for the move and we look forward to them joining us at future school assemblies.
As part of this change, students from each house will have their own unique physical education top as shown in the following photographs. The purpose of this change is to foster a greater house spirit school wide and enable students and their families to identify with a particular house. The change will mean that each class will include students from all four houses instead of all the students in a class identifying with one particular house.
New students on enrolment will be allocated to a house and they will be able to purchase their house physical education top as part of their uniform. Future siblings will then follow on in the same house enabling families to pass on their house physical education top from one sibling to another.
As we change over to the new tops, this year’s year seven students will be given an opportunity to change their current physical education top to the new one as part of a buy back scheme described below. They may wish to have a new top as a memento from this inaugural changeover year and will be allocated to their 2025 house at the beginning of term four, 2024.
This means those who wish to, will be able to change their tops leading into the 2025 school year.
This is not compulsory and all the 2025 year 8 students are able to keep their current tops for their year 8 year.
Buy Back Scheme
75% of the 2024 year seven students will be moving to new house colours in 2025 and will be able to purchase the physical education top for their new house. If their current top is in good condition, they are able to bring this to the school office and will be given $15.00 to go towards their new top. The school will use these returned tops for issuing to sports teams representing the school in outside competitions.
To assist with this changeover, the school will hold a stock of the most popular sizes at school for year 7 students wishing to purchase the new physical education tops in their house colour.
