Read more about Megan Hoskin's visit to Room 21.

On the 24th August, Megan Hoskin from Hands on Tauranga, brought a selection of Museum artefacts to Room 21 for the class to interact with. The items are part of the ‘The Tauranga Heritage Collection’. The collection comprises over 30,000 objects, which are rich with taonga important to Tauranga Moana and also includes artefacts of national significance. The students were able to touch and use the items which would usually be held behind a layer of glass in a museum.

Room 21 student, Kayla McCabe said, “This was an awesome experience, we got to hold a 4.55-billion-year-old meteorite and listen to music using a gramophone! There were lots of other things to see as well, like a stuffed possum and an army uniform. I really enjoyed this and can't wait for other people to experience this as well.”

Hands on Tauranga also brought a photographer who took photos for an upcoming article in the local magazine ‘Our Place’.
