On Wednesday 14 September, Room 28 departed Otumoetai Intermediate at 7:50 in the morning to go to their Year 7 camp at Ngatuhoa lodge. All the students, who were all driven to camp in a parent or teacher's car, arrived at Ngatuhoa lodge at 9 am. However, before everyone could move into their dorms they first had to wait for Room 6 to finish up cleaning and leave. While they waited for Room 6 to leave, they played games on the field using the equipment Miss Smart had brought. Once Room 6 left, the kids and parents had to be informed about the safety protocols by Luke the custodian.

When they arrived, all of the students unpacked their bags, and got ready for their first activity. Students had been allocated three different groups to do their activities with.

The activities in camp included abseiling, tubing, kayaking, mini raft building, the solo sit, the waterhole, the confidence course, cliff climb, the Burma trail, and the flying fox. When Miss Smart needed all of the students as quickly as possible, she would blow her whistle once. Two whistles meant that we had our next activity in 5 minutes and that we needed to get ready. After all of the students, teachers, and parents were ready, we started our camp activities.

On the final day, the students went to their last rotation of their camp activities. Once they had finished the rotation, they had free time for the next hour, letting them relax and enjoy Ngatuhoa’s beautiful scenery before tidying up and leaving. An hour later, the kids and adults all started cleaning up the cabins, toilets, packing their belongings, and cleaning the living room. Once all of that was finished, everyone headed back towards Tauranga. Year 7 Camp was a fun filled, enjoyable, and life changing experience.
