Ōtūmoetai Intermediate had a great 2023 season with the following results from the Netball Finals last weekend.

Year 8 Results:

• Division 1; Yr 8A 3rd against Te Puke Intermediate Yr 8A - 29-25
• Division 2; Yr 8B 2nd against Bethlehem College Yr 8A - 31-14
• Division 5; Yr 8 Yellow 3rd against TIS Yr 8 Silver Ferns - Def

Year 7 Results:

• Division 1; OIS Yr 7A 1st against Mount Maunganui Intermediate Yr 7A -41-9
• Division 2= OIS Yr 7B 2nd against Aquinas College Yr 7A - 22-17
• Division 4= OIS Yr 7 Pink 2nd against Pyes Pa Lightning Yr 7&8 - 11-14

Year 7A

After an epic season of netball, OIS 7A pushed through to a victory. Heading into the finals, the thought of winning kept creeping closer. As the game went on, the sideline became more tense. When we heard the buzzer signalling the end of the game, our whole team ran off the court bursting with joy. Finally, after 21 years the school had won division 1 again, with a whopping score of 41-9.

Thanks to Tish and James who did a fantastic job coaching these girls offering so many opportunities to extend their skills and build an amazing team culture that meant they all thrived.

Year 8B

OIS 8B did well coming runners up in Division 2 and are officially the highest ranked “B” team for their year group from any school in the Western Bay. They beat several school “A” teams during their season and have a nice shiny trophy for their efforts. The girls finished with a fun tournament and again came runner’s up in the Year 8 group. They’ve been a wonderful group of girls to work with and did their school proud.
