Parking/Driving Around Our Kura
Ōtūmoetai Intermediate School area is visited regularly by Travel Safe and TCC Parking to help maintain safety for all children using the area. Monitoring is by CCTV cameras located on light poles and infringement notices are sent by mail.
Welcome to Term 1. To ensure a smooth start and to help our new families, we have given some pointers below for navigating around our school. Please note there is a Tauranga City Council Traffic Camera is monitoring both Charles Street and Windsor Road for parking infringements.
Ōtūmoetai Intermediate encourages active modes of transport to support a healthy lifestyle by biking, walking, scootering to school to help reduce congestion and be fit and healthy.
Please remember to practise safe parking behaviour, obey the road rules and choose safety over convenience.
Disable Parking:
We have three parking spaces designated for disabled drivers or disabled students. We have a number of parents and caregivers needing to use these as drop offs and for appointments. To use these disable spaces, a current disabled card must be visible inside the front windscreen.
A friendly reminder:
Not to stop or park on yellow lines.
Not to double park alongside other vehicles to pick up and drop off students.
Park safely. Parking on grass verges can make it difficult for students to see and be seen.
If you have to drive, pre-plan a meeting place with your son/daughter away from school to help reduce congestion. The best place to park is at Carlton Reserve which is a short stride from Charles Street where you can meet your child.
Use the designated safe school crossings on Ngatai Road and Charles Street, even if you need to walk a little further.
Please do not stop on the pedestrian crossings to let your child in/out of a vehicle.
Drivers – stop at the pedestrian crossing if there are people waiting to cross.
Pedestrians -please ensure vehicles have stopped in both directions before stepping out on the crossing.
No parking on footpaths.
Do not enter the school driveway to pick up or drop off children between 8:00 am and 8:30 am and 2:30 pm and 3:15 pm.
