Labour weekend at the Taupo BMX Track was humming with riders competing at the BMXNZ North Island Titles. Two of our students competed at this event with outstanding results representing the Tauranga BMX club on Cambridge Road.

Daniel Mason (Year 8 - Room 24) showed his speed and skills to qualify 2nd leading into the final. He won 5 races including his Semi-Final, placed 2nd in two of his motos over the two day event. The final was very tight leading into the first corner and Daniel was gaining on his competitors to make another podium this year in 3rd position. The 13 year boys category had some of the fastest times across all age groups.

Liam Clifford (Year 7 - Room 6) competed in two classes, the standard 20” race and Cruiser Class riding in 15 races over the event. The 11year boys category is fiercely competitive and Liam achieved top 4 finishes in all his motos and Semi-Final which included 3 x 1st placings. The Final was won by a top ranked Australian boy with Liam coming home in 7th with a photo finish. In his cruiser class it was a combined age group of 11-12 year olds he made the podium with a 2nd placing.

Congratulations Daniel & Liam
