Term 4 Week 9

Performing Arts Academy

The Performing Arts Academy (PAA) invited local rest homes and retirement villages into our school.

On Friday 1st December the PAA hosted a myriad of local Rest Home and Retirement Village residents and their staff at school. They created and performed mini performances, which were followed by the students serving morning and afternoon tea.

Everyone involved – both students and residents, had a memorable time, as each generation could offer something unique to the other. The conversations and interactions between everyone were incredible to witness. Furthermore, I received a few comments about how welcoming our students were as they waited for our guests out at the front of the school, and guided and assisted them to our studio.

We look forward to inviting our guests back next year.

Marimba Group

Congratulations to the Ōtūmoetai Intermediate School Marimba Group, our first ever Marimba Group, on their recent performance.

The Marimba Group are a group of enthusiastic musicans and together learnt a collection of songs for 2023 ONZA Marimba Festival at the Tauranga Farmers Market last weekend. Along with six other local schools, they learnt and memorized ten songs that told stories about the wind.

Everyone at the festival was amazed by how well over 70 students played together. The whole event super fun! It was like a big music party where everyone got to play and hear the coolest music on the coolest instruments.

A huge thank you to the many supporters who came and cheered us on for the event.
