Cricket

Last Thursday and Friday, 12 keen young cricketers from Ōtūmoetai Intermediate competed in the inaugural Kane Williamson Cup T20 Tournament down at Fergusson Park. There was some great cricket played by all the teams involved and some very tight results.

The tournament resulted in a final contested between Ōtūmoetai Intermediate and Tauranga Intermediate. OIS performed strongly with the bat amassing a total of 137 runs in the first innings. OIS bowled equally as well, getting TIS out for 89 runs to win the cup! All the boys played well across the tournament. Of note, Kieran Hutchison scored innings of 96 and 54 and Archie Dowling took a hat trick with figures of 3/2. Well done to the students involved!

Thanks to Mr Myers for getting this tournament up and running and holding practices at school. We hope to hold this tournament every year.

Thanks to Tauranga Intermediate, Mount Intermediate and Whakatāne Intermediate for making the effort to compete over the two days.

A big thank you to Brett Williamson, Kane Williamson's dad, for coming down and presenting the cup on behalf of Kane.
