Emerging Historian

Malina Binns recently 'worked' a stall for the Tauranga Museum at the Children's Day Festival.

She did an outstanding job talking with the kids that came to the stall about the Moa Bones, Moa Egg (3D printed to actual size & weight) and the Toki tools (Māori gardening tools).

Her attitude, encouragement, knowledge, and mannerisms helped keep the kids excited about what they were seeing, and engaged with the artifacts they were able to handle.

The Museum Director is considering making Malina the Ambassador for the Kids Club (which will be launched later this year), and the photo above is going into the next Executive Report (that will be read by the senior executives within council, not published externally).

Malina has confidently embraced this new challenge so professionally.
