Term 1 Week 4

Duathlon is back on again - Friday 3rd March

After numerous requests to consider postponing our school Duathlon rather than a full cancellation, we have been able to make arrangements to run the event this Friday. We are conscious that the year 8 students missed out on this event last year due to COVID-19 so are pleased to be able to go ahead at the end of this week.

Students are encouraged to bring a bike and participate in the full duathlon, but we realise that may not be possible for everyone, so there is a Run ONLY option available. House points for all participants and extra points for placing Top 20.

Students will need to organise getting their bike and helmet to school the morning of the event. NO HELMET NO RIDE! On Friday morning all students will take their bike and helmet to the turf. They will need to place their bikes in their designated zone eg. Year 7 boys BLUE house, etc.

Shoes are optional but encouraged due to the pavement and gravel like track in the run section.

Students can come to school in house colours. They must look blue-green-gold or be in their PE gear.

There will be a waterslide available too so a change of clothes and towel is advisable if they wish to use it.

Parents/caregivers/whanau are welcome to come along and join us for this school-wide event. There are also some excellent vantage points to watch it from along the way.

The starting order is:

· Race 1 @ 9:00 am Year 8 Boys Bike + Run

· Race 2 @ 9:05 am Year 8 Girls Bike + Run

· Race 3 @ 9:15 am Year 7 Boys Bike + Run

· Race 4 @ 9:20 am Year 7 Girls Bike + Run

· Race 5 @ 9:25 am Year 8 Boys Run

· Race 6 @ 9:30 am Year 8 Girls Run

· Race 7 @ 9:35 am Year 7 Boys Run

· Race 8 @ 9:40 am Year 7 Girls Run

There is a ‘no bike’ option to run track then back to bank.
