Term 2 Week 5

Principal's Message

Dear parents, caregivers, students and friends of the school. Tena koutou katoa. Ngā mihi nui kia koutou katoa
    by Otumoetai Intermediate Communications

We are five weeks into the second term and school is a busy place. Lots of new sports have started and the Incredible Minds programme is in full swing. A number of classes have been involved in “Education Outside The Classroom” (EOTC) activities. This term all classes have a focus on science and it is great to see the learning and active engagement that is going on throughout the school.

ZESPRI AIMS Games Registrations close on 31st May and all trials should be completed by this date.

Our school endeavours to provide our students with a wide variety of opportunities in sports, culture and the arts. Preparations are also in full swing for Showcase which is our annual production. This will be held in week two of next term.

One of the most popular events on our calendar is the Wearable Arts Competition. Many students have expressed an interest in being involved and the theme is 4 Seasons. Costumes will need to be ready by week 7 and students will be asked to display their costumes on Thursday 8th June from 12:30 pm. The costumes will be shown off again in our Showcase Extravaganza during week 2 of Term 3. See the flyer attached for details.

We continue to celebrate our students’ cultural and family heritage. By mid-term, all students will have had their photo placed on our Heritage Wall in the School Library. It is important to us that every student has a sense o

f belonging in our school and that their family’s culture and heritage is valued.

You, as parents/caregivers, along with family members, are invited and most welcome to come along to see the wall for yourself. You will have an opportunity when you come along to our parent teacher interviews on Thursday 29th June 2023.

Ngā Mihi Nui
