Thank you everyone for supporting this Friends of Outram School fundraiser!
Friends of Outram School sold and distributed pumpkin seeds back in November last year, and so last Friday was the day to finally bring the pumpkins to school for the weigh in. After a challenging growing season we didn’t know how many pumpkins would appear, but appear they did, held tightly under arms and riding on the school bus. With a range of sizes and looks the winners of the three pumpkin categories were:
Heaviest pumpkin: Ashton at 8.93kgs
Smallest pumpkin: Lachlan at 30gm
Best looking pumpkin: Ruby
Grown from their own seeds we had Belle and Madi, and Carly and Lincoln bring along their giant pumpkins for everyone to see and they certainly were impressive pumpkins, thank you for bringing them along.
Other competition winners were:
Poem/story writing competition: Luke and Evelyn
Colouring in competitions: Quinn, Penina, and Isaac (junior section) and Lyra, Nathaniel, and Jessie (senior section)
Congratulations to all our winners!
At lunch time lots of children sampled some delicious homemade pumpkin soup (big thanks to chef Dale), with many children coming back for seconds.
Also, as part of the day we had a dress up day, with the theme of autumn, what a creative bunch here at Outram School with scarecrows, duck shooters, pumpkins (of course) and lots of lovely autumn colours and tones bestowing us for the day. Lots of best dressed prizes were awarded at assembly, well done everyone.
The pumpkin competition day raised $495.35! Friends of Outram School are currently fund raising towards replacing the audio-visual equipment in our school hall, this will coincide with the hall upgrade this year.
Thank you to Farmlands for the donation of prizes for the pumpkin growing competition.
The next Friends of Outram School meeting is on Monday 10 June at 7pm in the staff room, we’d love to see some new faces come along.
