This week the work of our fantastic teacher aides was acknowledged by Altrusa Club of Taieri. Altrusa Club does non-profit work in the local community. Clare and Jenny presented the teacher aides with a wee gift to say thank you for the work they do in schools to support our learning communities. Coffee cards were also supported by the local cafes on the Taieri. Thank you Altrusa!
Schools have new rules and guidelines on understanding student distress and minimising physical restraint in schools. This requires our school to have a policy in place. The Board ratified our updated policy at last week's meeting. You can find a copy of this policy with this week's newsletter and on our website under the 'Policy' tab. All staff are also required to complete training on the Restraint Guidelines. Our staff have completed this training at our last staff only day.
Physical restraint is a last resort and can only be used by teachers under particular conditions.
We have assembly on Friday at 2.20pm. Room 8 are presenting.
Next week we look forward to Harold and Pip from the Life Education Trust being with us. There is always great excitement when the Life Ed Truck rolls up!
