TERM TWO IN THE ALLEN CENTRE! 😀
We have had an extremely busy term two here in the library! Make sure to have a good look at all our action photos of the term with all its happenings! Happy holidays from Mrs B and Rebecca. Don't forget to spend some time reading! 📚️
The beginning of the term saw the whole school celebrating Science Week in the library. It was bubbles galore!
Did you know that a bubble is a liquid, a solid, AND a gas!
With the right conditions, you can hold a bubble in your hand.
If a bubble sees dry - it says bye, bye.
Next, learning was all about coding and the digital technology available in the Allen Centre. We all got to have a go, even the littlest people!
We have enjoyed learning all about snakes - jungle and tree pythons in particular. We found out that:
snakes are not as scary as they seem.
snakes feel soft and cool to the touch, not scaly and rough.
snakes play a huge part in keeping habitat's healthy.
not all snakes want to eat you!
These last few weeks we have been celebrating Matariki and learning all about our native bird species. We made some beautiful NZ bird puppets.
Just in time for the Garden Bird Survey that runs from 29th June-7th July! 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 and let's do our bit for the birds (and the planet)!
𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 that you can pick up a tally sheet and the resources you need to participate from a library or garden centre near you? Find your nearest stockist at gardenbirdsurvey.nz/supplies/Don't see a stockist near you? No worries - you can also download the resources you need online or make your own tally sheet!
We have added some beautiful wooden puzzles for the senior school. It has been tricky for Rebecca and myself not to sit and do them all! 🤭
