Room 6 Camp/News
We have been busy bees in Room 6 this term!
A highlight was in week 4 we packed our cars and headed to Camp Iona in Herbert.
Our first stop was a cave walk at Trotters Gorge. This was a great place to stretch the legs, see some cave weta and practice our stone skimming skills.
Lane was crowned 'Champion Stone Skimmer' with 14 skims.
After we spent the first day exploring camp and its surroundings we headed to Oamaru for a busy day 2. We visited the Steampunk HQ, saw some blue penguins with their chicks, visited two playgrounds and explored a hands on museum.
A highlight was definitely McKerrow's Pond. Spending a good chunk of the day kayaking and sailing was awesome. After some good advice and tips from some local Lions club members we were out there carving it up like Team New Zealand.
We spent plenty of time down at the Waianakarua river behind camp, building dams, skimming stones...getting wet and having fun!
Overall a great week away. Lots of exploring, new experiences and learning.
We spent the week before camp learning about this lighthouse. It is the Katiki Lighthouse at Moeraki and it shone for the first time in 1878. We walked to the point and said hello to the local wildlife.
A BIG thank you to the parents who came on camp and a MASSIVE thank you to Mrs Jackson for organising week and the learning opportunities for our children. We had a blast and made some great memories together.
Back at school we spent time been practicing for the big Athletics day. We had some great weather to get outside and fine tune our skills.
We have also enjoyed some buddy time with Ruma 4. Last week we had some creative play with the lego. School is FUN!!!!!
