Outram School Board update

Carolyn Timoko —

At the first board meeting, we approved the 2023 budget, which does not have any major items in it.

Money for the room 3 & 4 upgrades has already been allocated from the ministry, and although the spend stays the same, due to rising costs, the scope has been dramatically reduced.

This is the first year where the ministry has covered our parent donation, and it will be interesting to see if all our curriculum activities are fully covered by the government payment.

Some parents have indicated they would be happy to still pay their school fees, even though it isn’t necessary (in way of a donation). Additional donations made to the school are completely voluntary. Any donation to the school is very gratefully received and put to very good use in paying for resources. It is worth bearing in mind that not all costs are covered by the ministry payment – overnight camps and extra curriculum sports/education activities will still be invoiced and must be paid.

The board has also approved purchasing more Chrome books as appropriate technology usage increases across the school.
