Wow! It’s hard to believe it is almost at the end of 2023. What a year it has been.
Since our last update in the newsletter we have done ….. a few things.
During Week 4, the Year 4's went to camp, staying overnight at Waiora, the scout camp at Whare Flat. The water slide and archery were two of our favourite outside activities. Cooking our lunch on the last day was fun too.
We even managed to have a mini Winter Olympics with a mascot wearing an originally designed outfit. Let’s just say we out did ‘Project Runway’.
We had some fabulous parents who we are VERY THANKFUL to, because they made the time to come and join us. Thanks to Nico, Roger, Michelle, Jaclyn, Philip, Kris and Evan. We could not have done it without you.
Over this term we have continued our PMC time with the Junior Syndicate. During this time each of the teachers in the Junior Syndicate lead an activity and the children choose the one they wanted to do.
This term we focused on science, drama and Te Reo. This week we are focused on Christmas activities. It is wonderful to see the children of different classes work together. We always have a lot of fun during this time while we focus on the ‘Life Rafts’.
Another favourite time of the week this term has been swimming. We are working to build our confidence in the water. From learning to improve our freestyle and backstroke technique to sculling and seeing how far we can swim under water.
This week we have been integrating Maths and Literacy and had the challenge to 'buy' Christmas presents and Christmas tree decorations for a family 5 as well as either a Christmas dinner or family outing. We found it very tricky to stay under budget.
As the end of the year draws to a close, we also need to say a big thank you and good bye to Miss McGregor and Miss Wilson. We will all miss you next year.
