Home Learning at Outram School

Glen Beadle —

Home learning is an extension of the school programme and supports, enhances and consolidates teaching and learning. It provides a positive link between home and school.

We believe home learning should be enjoyable for the child, stimulate imagination and creativity, reinforce lessons taught in school, and allow the opportunity to apply learnt skills. It should be manageable for the child, parents/caregivers and teachers.

Home learning at Outram School has two parts;

  1. Classroom teachers will set learning tasks that support the current learning in the classroom. As a school, we promote daily reading and/or literacy activities. From time to time the classroom teacher may set specific home learning tasks when they notice a child needs extra practise or support with a particular learning concept.

  2. As a parent/caregiver, if you wish your child to have more home learning, there is a selection of activities you may encourage your child to complete. Teachers will give opportunities for students to show and discuss these home learning activities within their classroom. These home learning tasks can be found below and will be updated Termly.

If you wish to discuss home learning further please make a time to talk to your child’s classroom teacher.
