From the Principal's Desk
Tēnā koutou
The newsletter is late this week because teachers and principals were hard at work yesterday learning about our refreshed NZ Curriculum for Maths. Outram, Strath Taieri, Lee Stream, St Mary's Mosgiel and Silverstream Schools worked together to strengthen our teacher knowledge and capabilities of teaching Maths to all our learners. We focused on enhancing our already strong Maths teaching programmes. We appreciate the time given to come together to focus on this important mahi.
Our next Teacher Only Day is Tuesday 3 June. This is the Tuesday after King's Birthday weekend, making it an extra long weekend for families. On this day we will continue our focus on the Refreshed NZ Maths Curriculum.
Triathlon
What a great day we had for our House Triathlon on Thursday. The growth from year to year of attitude, effort, resilience and skill level in individual tamariki is great to watch. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to support, assist and encourage, and all the helpers on the day. The winning House for 2025 is...Kiwi (Red) House.
As part of Move it March, Scout the active transport mascot, made a visit to our Triathlon. This is what Scout said...
"Wow! That triathlon was something else! What a brilliant piece of organisation and what great participation from tamariki! Thanks so much for inviting us along. Two of your senior student leaders who are on the school council introduced themselves to me and explained a bit about what they do. Very impressive!"
