Ruma Whitu - Term 1 Fun

We have had a wonderful start to the year. It has been great getting to know our new classmates and making new friendships.

We are well and truly settled as a class and are into our learning routines now - things are humming!

Some highlights so far have been: spending time with our buddy class: Room 3, learning about the importance of identity and reputation with Pip and Harold in the Life Ed bus and getting to know our student teacher Miss Fright.

Advice from a cat…

Getting dead rabbits is lots of fun.

Getting yummy food is really good. 

Scratches under my chin are nice.

Defending is good for me.

Meowing at owners is so fun.

Running in barley grass is fun.

Advice From A Puppy…

Walking is a waste of time.

Always hide a pair of clothing.

Beware of my bark.

Always beg for food.

Never forget how important puppy eyes are.

Belly rubs are the best!

Walk between peoples legs.

Take up lots of room in their bed when they sleep.

Hiss at people for no reason.

Bring dead mice into the house.

Be very lazy.

Scratching wallpaper to be annoying.

Sharpen your claws on furniture.

On Monday the Year 5 and 6 girls went to a special sporting event in Dunedin. That meant that some of the Room 8 students got to hang out in Room 7 for the day. It also happened to be St Patrick's Day! We had a great day together, learning about the history of this day and also learning about leprechauns! Did you know that wearing green on St Patrick's Day makes you invisible to leprechauns? We created leprechaun traps and also completed an art activity. We think our leprechauns look amazing!

We are looking forward to our school tryathlon next Wednesday. It's always a really fun house event.

There is excitement building within the Year 5 and 6 students, as the countdown to Camp Waihola continues. Camp in week 10 is going to be a fabulous way to end the term! Yesterday Mr Mitchell and Mrs Jackson shared the activity programme with students - we are certainly going to busy!
