We thought we would start the year by putting some Art up on the walls. Through discussion we thought Pablo Picasso would be a good artist to research and learn about... and then use some of his techniques to produce our own masterpieces. Come along to Parent Assembly next Friday (15th) to learn more about this artist and view some of our wonderful creations).

They will look great up on the wall... they might have a price tag on them so start saving.

We have also been really enjoying Cameo Writing (Poetry). This is when we look at a particular structure or language feature and then shape our own ideas through poetry. Last week we looked at using our imagination along with repetition. We wrote poems called 'Tomorrow I will...' We got to think of some wild and wacky things we could do tomorrow, and then back to reality with a chore or job we have to do today.

The WILD weather on Monday night was the hot topic on Tuesday morning... this lead to a class brainstorm and some poetry about Thunderstorms. We used Acrostic poem structure to share our ideas on this.

        Thunderstorm

Traveling through the dark and gloomy night sky

Hailing on rooftops

Unexpected booms of thunder

No rays of sunlight shining down on me

Disturbing loud noises shake the city

Enormous lightning striking the ground

Raining nonstop for hours

Spooky screams from the township

Terrifying howls

Outside is cold and miserable

Roaring thunder is no longer here

Mist and clouds disappear….it’s now all over

Thunder storms…

Thunder clouds gather and finally I see the first lightning strike followed by a long dramatic pause…

Howling wind ripping through the air

Under the covers, reading, it looks like no sleep tonight.

Noisy thunder because the house shakes and shudders.

Deafening claps of thunder fill my ears with ringing sounds.

Eerie stillness hangs in the air, finally, I think it’s over.

Rain turns into a downpour

Scattered bolts flash across the night sky

The lightning flickers in and out like a light switch

One by one the raindrops start to fall, slow at first then faster and heavier falling with a steady beating rhythm.

Roaring thunder rolling through the valley

Midnight rumbling

We LOVE Fridays because we get to spend time with our buddy class, Rm 4. We will sometimes read, make music, build a tower...and form friendships together.

Making music is heaps of FUN!!!

Every Wednesday morning we are lucky to have the talented Mrs B teach us. We have been diving into the world of Music and exploring some elements of how music is made. We also get the privilege of enjoying the Allen Centre. Swapping library books, researching, exploring, creating, identify... we LOVE it!

This week we were lucky to release 5 monarch butterflies into the wild. Before they left on their journey we got to have one last cuddle.
