Chromebooks

Sharyn Varcoe —

During the lockdown period, Oxford Area School was pleased to be able to support families with provision of school devices.

Devices were loaned to families who did not have a suitable device in their home and their child was in Years 5 and above.

Since returning onsite we have been able to purchase more Chromebooks for use by our students while at school. This means that we have been able to offer some older Chromebooks to families for home use.

Eligibility for this offer was based on the following criteria -

Their family borrowed a school device during lockdown as they did not have a suitable device for their child to use OR Their family borrowed a school device during lockdown because they didn't have enough devices of their own to have one per child

AND, in order of priority - their child is in Y11-13 (NCEA student), Y9-10, Y7-8

Families were advised of this offer last week via email.
When we return in Term 3 we hope to be able to extend this offer to the Y5-6 families who borrowed a device during lock-down as well depending on availability. You will be emailed when this happens.

We are very pleased that we have been able to support our community by ensuring more families have access to a device for learning.
