Welcome back to Term 3

Mike Hart —

Term 3, Week 1

Kia ora koutou,

We happily welcomed back our learners to school this week and it has been great to see everyone settle back into school life.

This week has been a focus on Matariki. Learning activities around Matariki is happening during Learning Mentor time, Whānau time and during class time. Matariki rose during the holidays and signals the Māori New Year.

Our second big focus for Term 3 is the value of being caring or kia manaaki. Again our learnings will do a number of activities to harness their caring behaviour. To be caring we have defined this as:

  • Be kind
  • Help people when they need it
  • Accept differences
  • Look after yourself and others
  • Encourage and support others
  • Cooperate with others

I'm sure we all agree these are important behaviours when working with others.

Ngā mihi,

Mike Hart
