During the second week of the July holidays, Ashleigh Lawler was a member of the North Canterbury U18 team that competed in the NZ U18 National Tournament at Hagley Park Courts, Christchurch.

Ashleigh was selected for this team early May. She has trained with this team for two months playing in Mainland Netball Tournament over Queens Birthday weekend and several local tournaments building for the NZ National Tournament. Ashleigh mostly played GA or WA for the team. 

Unfortunately the weather was very unpleasant the week of the U18 tournament. Monday was gale force NW, then they had dreadful wet conditions for the rest of the week, but the teams had to overcome these challenges to play proudly for their areas they represented. Ashleigh pushed through shooting plenty of goals for the team. This was an amazing experience for Ashleigh to be able to play against some of New Zealand's awesome young talent - Hamilton City team was impressive to watch who eventually played in the final against Christchurch A team.  North Canterbury played Hamilton City on Tuesday morning. Ashleigh's team finished a credible 21 placing out of 32 teams.
