Shave for A Cure

Sharyn Varcoe —

Oxford Area School is shaving for a cure on Thursday 2nd July. Led by one of our Year 12 students, Liam Bamford, we are supporting this worthy cause in 2020.

We are thrilled to announce that two more brave young people have stepped up to get their heads shaved to support this cause. Well done to Sonja Slemint in Year 6 and Daniel Buxton in Year 9 for getting involved.

If your young person wishes to join the other students and staff having their head shaved they need your permission. Permission forms can be picked up at the school reception and must be returned by Monday 29 June.

Support this worthy cause by making a donation at https://shaveforacure.everydayhero.com/nz/oxford-area-school
If we get to $800 Mr Mike Hart will get his head shaven, $1000 will also see Mr Joseph Burston take part and at $1500 Mr Andrew Riach will be joining the shavees. Get your donation in and let's see this happen!

Leukaemia is the most prevalent childhood cancer and lymphoma is one of the most common cancers amongst 15 to 24 year olds. It’s likely that you might know someone living with one of these diseases and shaving shows solidarity with those going through treatment. Money raised through "Shave for A Cure" goes towards continuing to grow Leukemia and Blood Cancer services which provide practical support, information, and education for families living with these diseases.

As well as the actual event, there will be a whole school Crazy Hair Mufti Day on 2nd July and a range of activities in the lead up with all proceeds going towards this worthy cause.
