Further Industrial/Strike Action
Please be aware of further potential industrial action from the Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA)
Advice on potential industrial action:
PPTA Te Wehengarua members have voted for a one-day national strike on 29 March 2023.
Subject to progress in mediation the Presiding Member of our board will receive the formal notification required by the Education and Training Act 2020 on Sunday 26 March 2023.
Who would the action involve:
- All PPTA members who are bound by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement, and
- All PPTA members employed in area schools who are bound by the Area Schools Teachers' Collective Agreement.
Timing of action:
Subject to progress in mediation and formal notice of the strike action, the strike would begin at 7 am on 29 March 2023 and end at 11:59 pm on 29 March 2023.
Nature of the action:
The nature of this action will be a continuous withdrawal of all labour on 29 March 2023. This includes work that would otherwise be undertaken on or off the school site.
Impact on Oxford Area School:
While the School Board are yet to complete the decision-making process this will most likely impact our year 9-13 classes on Wednesday 29th March.

What happens next?
We expect to hear from the PPTA on Sunday giving formal notification to our school board within the legal three-day notice period. Please expect further communications on Sunday evening.
