Combined Country High Schools Indoor Tournament

Deb Baggott —

Oxford Area School teams had a successful day at the CCHS Indoor Tournament held in Rangiora on Wednesday 1 June.

Three Oxford Area School basketball teams and five badminton teams competed against teams from Hurunui College and Rangiora New Life School.

Oxford had four out of the five teams in the Year 7/8 badminton so there was always going to be at least one OAS team in the final! In the end, it was our boys team who came out winners over our mixed team. Likewise, it was a OAS battle in the final of the Year 7/8 basketball.

In the Year 9/10 competition, OAS won both the basketball and badminton competitions.

It was a great opportunity to get our students back into some inter-school sport. All of the students displayed the school values and it was an enjoyable day for all those involved.

Special thanks to the parent helpers at basketball - Macey Fleming, Leela Birch and Caz Murphy and to Julie Evans for managing the basketball teams on the day.
