Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)
About PB4L:
Positive Behaviour for Learning initiatives helps parents, whānau, teachers, and schools address problem behaviour, improve children's well-being, and increase educational achievement.
By strengthening relationships and creating more positive school environments, we remove barriers to engagement and improve students' chances to achieve at school and beyond.
PB4L is a long-term, systematic approach involving many initiatives. These include whole-school change, targeted group programmes, and individual student support services.

What we do:
This team meets regularly to analyse behaviour at Oxford Area School. This includes appropriate and inappropriate behavioural information. This team provides our staff with regular professional training and develops initiatives designed to promote our four school's values:
- Being respectful | Kia whakaute
- Being responsible | Kia haepapa
- Being positive | Kia manahau
- Being caring | Kia manaaki
Our Behavioural Development Plan:
This plan is developed to establish our foundation - our values. It highlights the need for us all to encourage appropriate behaviours and discourage inappropriate behaviours. We utilise restorative practices in developing strong relationships within our school with the goal to increase everybody's sense of belonging. Restorative practices are also a tool to help fix a relationship breakdown if it should arise.
