Joe Guy "Long Rider"

Marcus Cooper —

Joe Guy has lived an interesting life. He shared his life story with the year 7-13 students today during period one.

His story was one of overcoming adversity, finding his gift and working hard to be the best at what ever his passion was. Starting from humble beginnings in Australia where he lived a troubled life as a young juvenile getting into all sorts of trouble. Struggling with education and learning to read and write. Dragging himself out of his reality and turning his life around. He found his gift was working with Horses that were unrideable and in seven days making them rideable. He travelled across Australia, America, Canada on horseback living off the land. He taught himself to play the guitar and sing to become a performer of some note. He has suffered personal tragedy, losing his son last year to suicide, but still has a positive outlook on life. This was a great chance for our students to hear the life story of a true character who emphasised that all our students have a gift and they just need to find it and pursue it.
