Koru Games 2018
Lesley Inch - October 14, 2018
After months of fundraising and planning the Koru games group donned their smart attire and headed to Lincoln for 3 days of sporting competition. This is an opportunity for students to test their abilities against students from all over the South Island at their chosen sport. It is also a chance to have a go at a sport not tried before. Either way it is a great event with a lot of fun and comradery for the students.
This year our group participated in Lawn Bowls, Tennis, Rugby sevens, Volleyball, Table tennis, Basketball and Badminton. We had a very successful Lawn Bowls group winning both the girls and boys event. The girls also placed third, fourth and seventh in a field of 24 teams. Congratulations to Chloe Chittenden & Elizabeth Roberts and Jacob Inch & Marshall Stokes on their gold medals and to Indi Ward & Lucy Pincott on their bronze medals.
Student highlights from the event were: Meeting students from other schools, learning a new sport, we stayed in flash motels, got to play sport with new people, we had fun at the mega-air, everyone got on really well, we won some medals and trophies, the swimming was fun, the parents were really funny, we got to watch and support other teams playing, we got to share the rooms at the motel with our friends, the games were contested fairly, we had a fabulous time!
