My Mahi for Years 9-13 students
During Learning Mentor time this term, students have been introduced to My Mahi, an online tool which supports academic counselling and student wellbeing.
My Mahi is a free, online tool which students can access via the app on their phones or via the website. It is used by over 60,000 students throughout New Zealand and has been well received by our students.
Within My Mahi students can make goals and reflect on progress, prepare a Curriculum Vitae, produce a work ready portfolio showcasing their skills and knowledge and explore multiple career pathways to name just a few features. Learning Mentors also have access to over 100 lessons and resources to support our young people with diverse topics ranging from wellbeing and learning through to being work ready and life beyond school.
As we move through the year, Learning Mentors will be working with students and the My Mahi app as part of academic counselling to support our young people making informed choices about future courses, possible careers and SMART goals to ensure they achieve what they want to both within and outside of the classroom.
We strongly encourage parents and caregivers to sit down and have a look through My Mahi with their child to support at home conversations.
