Term 1, Week 2
Rau Whetū - Shine Together
Kia ora koutou,
It has been pleasing to see our students settle back into the routine of school, enjoying their classes and time together. A very positive start to the term.
A component of our vision for learners at Oxford Area School is Rau Whetū - allowing our students to shine together and to be extraordinary. Opportunities to shine include academics, sporting, cultural, performing and visual arts, and service to name but a few. It is essential as a school that we recognise these achievements and one of the ways we do so is to celebrate our extraordinary students at our annual prizegivings. You may remember in 2021 we didn't hold our prizegivings due to health and safety measures imposed, then in 2022, we were able to bring it back. We often receive feedback following prizegivings which is helpful for informing the future, and last year was no exception. This year our school is embarking on a thorough review of our prizegivings to ensure we are celebrating Oxford Area School students for their efforts and achievements in many aspects of schooling. Look out for further opportunities to contribute to this review in the weeks to come.
In 2023, for the 4th consecutive year, Oxford Area School will not be requesting school donations from whānau/families, as School Board have agreed to opt into the School Donations scheme once again. Things are tight in the economy at the moment and we don't want the burden of school donations to add to this. We hope this is helpful.
Noho ora mai | stay well,
