Welcome back to Term 2

Sharyn Varcoe —

Week 1, Term 2.

Kia ora koutou

Monday morning I had the pleasure of being at the gate when our buses arrived. The smiling faces of students as they hopped off the bus, the excited chatter as they met up with their friends and peers was a wonderful way to begin the term. A timely reminder that schools are about people, relationships and belonging.

A sense of belonging is built through many factors and opportunities over time. Term 2 is full of opportunities for our tamariki and rangatahi to get involved, stretch themselves, learn and build new relationships while strengthening others. Whether it is attending the Canterbury Rugby Fun Day, learning about animal movement at Orana Park, challenging themselves with one of the Kiwi competitions or wearing your gumboots with pride on Gumboot Day, Oxford Area School ensures that our young people are learning and growing together.

There are plenty of opportunities for whānau to get involved as well this term. Keep an eye out in the newsletter and our calendar to ensure you don't miss out on events. I look forward to seeing you there.
